Amp with your Squier Classic 50's SCPB?
These are such great basses. Fat and bright all at the same time. Delicious
Finding the right amp, however, has not proven to be so easy. It soulds great through my Acoutsic IMage Clarus, but that amp does not have enough power (good for jazz upright, though.) I'm currently running an Eden through an Avatar Neo 212, but the results are less than thrilling.
What's everybody else using for their Squier SCPB?

I run two different amps depending on the size of the gig, for smaller gigs i run a Trace Elliot Commando 15 which is 100 watts rms, I find it has really great tone with my CV 60's P-pass. For the bigger venues I'm using an older Randall rb1000 with an Apeg 410HE cab and that setup is an absolute monster.

I use a Crate BX160 with a JBL 15. Have a Crate 15 extension cab for bigger venues.

I love my X3 Live that I have now...
But back when I was a dedicated bass player, I loved my Hartke...

Ampeg is the name that is synonomous with "The" bass sound. I picked up an Ampeg B-100 R, Rocket Bass Amp in yr. 2000,new for 405 dollars' and it sounds marvalous. It's got a 15" speaker and it is very warm sounding. Ampeg probably offers the same amp or some sort of similar bass amp today. If you can find a used B-100 R, in good condition on ebay or something, I would recommend it. Of course they have very expensive tube amps too. The B-100 Rocket is solidstate, but it sure sounds like tubes to me and alot of other musical friends of mine..Good luck..

I use a classic vibe 50s p bass, run my guitar cord into a pre-tube amp, then into a compressor, then into the mixer, into the computer with (gtr waves) and finally out two 15" PAs.
I am getting a great sounding bass right now but my setup is quite untraditional.
If you re-search, bass setups and practices, you will find that to achive a good bass sound, normally, almost always there is other equipment involved before the sound hits the amp.
Bass need to be compressed, or run through a channel of compression, the reason being is, it keeps all the note nice and even in level. An EQ is often used also.
the compressor will really, improve the bass sound IMO, same as for the kick drum and snare drum on a live set. use compression, it helps alot

My Ampeg that I just mentioned has a built in compressor and multiple EQ choices. Nothing has to go before it to get killer sounds. Bass,.... cord.....imput....that's it!! It is fairly heavy for it's size, but the store threw in a set of wheels that fit right into the bottom.. It's really not that big, either... just kinda' heavy to carry too far.... [unless you took the Charles Atlas 90 lb. weakling weight lifting seminar way back when]..

I like to just use a Hartke Bass Attack. Cheap. About $80 new.
I run that into a Crown 700 watt bridged PA amp. Crown amps
sound wonderful. Cheap. $160 used on eBay.
The speaker cab is the $$$ part. Seems like it was about $700
after tax. It's been several years and my memory is only good
for about 10 minutes on a good day... lol Anyway a wonderful
sounding amp deserves nice speakers,
For practice, I use a Degitech I got off eBay for $30 to bring out
my old Basic 40 with an old Standel speaker,
That basic 40 looks old, like me, but it has something left,

Being relatively new to bass playing, & not actually bass playing 'on the road' I have a Roland BassCube 30, which with it's selection of digital amp models & effects is superb for home use. There are also Cube 100 & 120 models which will handle small venue gigs. I have the Squier CV '50s P.Bass (Butterscotch) & am veeery pleased with it. The little Roland Cube is deceptively loud for it's size, & plenty loud enough for home use or rehearsal.
