Default NBD - not a Squier though

Tuesday, I took delivery of a used Yamaha RBX 460 bass. Not sure of the age. Blue with what we'd call "foto flame" top, I think. Yamaha calls it "high definition". Looks like flamed maple. Gold hardware. P & J passive pups.

And best of all (sorta) is that it was FREE! I say SORTA because it is a gift from a friend of my dad's (he died last month) and this lady wanted us to have the bass, since she isn't playing it anymore. I'd rather have the old man still around than a new free bass.

At any rate, our bass player used it at practice last night and it sounded sweet. I've played it a little and will be using it at church from now on probably. My son will use it too I'm sure.

No pics yet - just got it cleaned up. Still needs new set of strings, but so far so good.

I was surprised at how nice it is. The bandmates liked it too.

Randy

I am interested in Yahama basses, I know very little about them. If you play along with music on the radio does the bass sound good? What is the balance of the bass like, is it head heavy or anything?

I played it for about an hour last night and loved it! Jammed along with a Buddy Guy CD. Very lightweight, balances well. I did not notice it being head heavy at all.
