Sweet! I agree - the stock comb is too dark, but that helped.

Nice look!!
I imagine my next bass will be a project that will allow me to insert some of my own taste into the appearance. Kid Klash has inspired me to be on the lookout for a nice project bass.

Nice color combo. The strap matches perfectly. The thing is it's always the personality of the player should show in the guitar, but we always try to make our guitars impress others. I like mine a little dark, and they reflect that. playing metal, I feel it fits my personality and the guitars. The new Antique Burst Fender (Squier) put on my PBass Standard Special is a bit dark, especially with the tortise shell pickguard, and it was perfect for me. A little bling from the new HMV bridge gives it gleam with the dark.

The new project axe I am working on is almost complete. The darkness shines in that axe as well. A Sith must go well armed! Pics soon to come to the site. Patience, and a rare day off will reveal it.

Hey guys its my first post and I'm trying to personalize my squier P/J

what tuners fit into the squier precision bass special I can't find this answer anywhere
also are there perfectly fitting pickguards? if so can someone point me in the right direction?
and last question (I promise) I heard that the bridge pickup on the p bass special is somewhat smaller then most is this true? will I need to by a neck jazz pickup rather then a bridge so it can fit?

sorry for barraging you guys with question just trying to make my squier me lol

AT,

Welcome to the group!!
Sorry, I do not have an answer for you because I am still playing stock; but I am sure that all of your questions will be answered in due time.

You might even consider creating a new thread for your question, and posting an introduction in the new member section.

Cheers,

Ken

For new pickguards for all Fenders / Squiers check out www.warmoth.com Awesome custom made pickguards and parts. I just got the red pearl pickguard for my MIM Strat project from Warmoth. They are truly pros.

Do not have a answer on the tuners but the j bass pickup on the Squier P Bass Special (black and chrome) is actually a smaller standard J bass neck pickup-in the bridge position.

Where did you acquire that Pearloid pickguard that actually fit a CV bass?? Most companies want to trace the original or (worst case scenario) send it to be duplicated.

My future next purchase is a CV '60 J bass and change the pickguard to single or 3-ply white. Never mind the white pickup covers and pickup changes.

Let me know - this is a not so easy find to buy.

I bought it from a guitar shop through ebay, but the bass was a standard P/J style... so only a CV '60s would fit.

Default Squier pickguard

Black stealth on Black Squier 5 and Pearl on Dolphen Grey. The Pearl is from Pickguardan and it is thick I love it almost twice regular pickguards. I first noticed the thick guards on Entwistle basses.
