Should I trade this?
I have a 2005 Tele Custom FMT HH, great condition.
I have 2 offers pending.
1. Mint black Squier '51 and a Fender Super Champ XD
2. Mint Blonde Squier '51 (black pg), Brownsville Choirboy and a Kustom QUAD dfx65
Would you trade? Which offer would you take? For reference, I have a Crate V18 and PODXT Live that I use, but want an amp lighter than 50lbs...
Thanks!
-Andy

Your FMT is beautiful. Much more so than any '51. Since you're getting rid of it because of the weight, how about trading it for a '72 Thinline Tele? You'd keep the humbuckers but the Thinline would be lighter being semi-hollow.

That's not a bad idea Adam. I'm not sure what I want to do with it... I know I want to get rid of my v18 now (it's about 48lbs) but not sure what I want to replace it with... grrr...

Here's what I'd do, if I had the time, money, could play, etc:
With my recently acquired Thinline with humbuckers:
I'd then get a replacement pickguard with holes for "normal-sized" humbuckers. I'd keep everything mounted in the original pickguard so it would be easier to put back to stock.
Then I'd get a set of P-Rails from Seymour Duncan.
I'd probably keep the controls the same, but have two push-pull pots to switch each pickup between the P-90 coils and the humbuckers. The knobs would have to be replaced, too. Either that or a little switch.
That would be a replacement for your FMT.

The p-rails are great! Carline had a set in a strat I helped him upgrade. If I had the money at te time, I so would have bought it. You bought a thinline? Pics? Want an FMT?

Personally, I'd keep what you already have... Unless you're ablsolutely not getting along with it.

Unfortunately, I'm not really getting along with it, and it's just too heavy after my back surgery. Mostly, I just can't get used to the jumbo frets.

Ahh, ok. Well the 51's are pretty light in comparison. A thinline Tele is also a good way to go, but I realize that's a not a trade currently on the table for you. Trade option # 2 then would be the one I would choose.

Andy, no I didn't get that thinline. That whole post was IF I had the time, money, etc.
I have the Squier (of course) VM Thinline. Let me know if you ever want to try it out. It's not as light as most Thinlines, though. I'm not digging the noisiness of it -- from what I can tell, some are super quiet and some aren't. I've had it looked at, and was told everything looks fine. I think it could be the wiring in our house. No noise with the mini Strat, though.
And I'd love to have your FMT. But I think I should learn to play better before getting anything else. That, and there's not a chance I could afford it.

banjo,paddle faster
No one will go for this. I would like to trade a Danville 5 string banjo in mint cond. for a Squire Strat. I have two banjos and am getting to be a good player and it is giving me the creeps! Two years old and it can be fun if you drink.

I'm not a big '51 fan so I would opt for keeping the Tele.

Mr Acidhouse those series of Korean Squiers never sell for what they cost. I see them listed for long periods of time with the seller standing put on his price. So if you'd get more use of of the amp and the '51 go for it. Or whatever else, trade is a good idea.
