bittersweet...
I just sold the last electric guitar I had intact...reason being is that I put a down payment on a Les Paul and needed what money I could scrounge up for that. So I've been selling other guitars and guitar parts so I could get that. Still have my wife's Fender acoustic to play with, and a sunburst Strat body that I'll eventually rebuild. But for the next few weeks, I'll be "unplugged".
I know some of you make think I'm nuts to do all that for an LP, but ever since my last LP decided to jump off its stand and break, I've just needed another one. So, random parts and a Squier had to go.
Still love Strats...just love LPs too! :-D

Every time I play a les Paul I play a cool lick then reach for the tremolo bar.
Seriously tho. I had a epi then a Gibson les Paul. Nice guitars but I'm a strat dude.

Les Strat? Because, of course, you now have one less Strat.

it'd be a boring place if we had to stick with one brand of guitar. was the LP too badly damaged to repair ? if it was the headstock, those can be repaired. just a thought.
oh, I have a Les Paul, two Gretsch guitars, a Squier, and a Alverez acoustic. there's too many good guitars to settle on one brand.

it was at the headstock that i had previously repaired. when it fell, the glue and bondo didn't hold...probably newbie mistake, but ultimately i was too frustrated to fix it so i hastily threw it on ebay. once it sold and i shipped it, i immediately regretted not fixing it again.

i agree. i like having a set neck w/ humbuckers around (the les paul) and a guitar w/ single coils (the strats).
your gretsches...are they hollowbodies?

my first guitar was a 1959 Gretsch G6124 Anniversary Model. yep, it's a hollowbody. I still have it. it has a single PatentAppliedFor(PAF) FilterTron pickup. it still sounds good for a 50 year old guitar.
my other Gretsch is a 2001 Gretsch G6114 "New" Jet. they call it a semi-hollowbody/chambered type. when FMIC and Gretsch combined in 2003, the model was dropped from production. so, they were only made in 2001 and 2003. the pickups(2) are TVJones designed pickups, sort of a humbucking pickup, not single coil.
the next Gretsch that I plan to get someday will be a Gretsch Duo Jet with DynaSonic pickups. these are single coil pickups. these guitars cost from $2000~$2500. so, it's going to be a little while before I break the grip on my checkbook and get one. oh, these are also considered semi-hollowbody guitars.

yep, alot of guys and gals like the Corvette. I've had the chance to play one of the older models from the 60's. the owner described it as "a boat anchor". that thing was, by far, the heaviest guitar that I've ever played. it was heavier than my '73 Les Paul.
you may, also, want to check out one of the Pro Jets. those are nice guitars, too.

Hmmmm...I think a Gretsch may be my next target in my GAS. Those Duo-Jets are sharp! And so is the G. Love signature corvette!
