Cheapie Partscaster
gathered the parts over the past couple of months, sneaking them in bit by bit, finished putting it together today. Had to veneer the neck pocket to make the neck fit. The body is really cheap and nasty as is the hardware and the electronics. The neck is a pretty nice Squier, large headstock, slab rosewod board. Surprisingly it plays really well and, despite the cheapie electrics sounds pretty good too. Light as a feather, sounds just like a strat should which is always a bonus!

The whole thing cost less than £60 / (approx) $90 and £5 of that was a set of strings. Considering that an Affinity costs round about £130 / $200 mark I'm quite pleased.

Looks great! There's an endearing quality about putting a guitar together that makes it more special than buying one off the shelf.

White stratocasters are da bomb! I have two. They look good with any color plastic parts, and they look good with maple and rosewood fretboards. Very nice man!!

Mainly because with the exception of the neck the rest of it really is cheap stuff. It all came off Ebay where I just set an upper limit for the bida nd waited to see what happened. if I didn't win I waited till the part came up again - took quite a while though. I think I bid on about 5 necks until I finally won this one. The body and hardware are deadly cheap. The body is so light it feels like its made of balsa wood I suspect the hardware is little better than the stuff you find on a toy but it works well enough and sounds fine I think.

If it's that light the body may (repeat, MAY) be made out of paulownia, which is a very good tonewood. Nice looking parts-o-caster!
