Good Morning. Took the pics.
Heres the Silvertone
Pickups 1
Pickups 2
Headstock Front (Made In USA)
Headstock Rear.
Electrics.
Date stamp. Might need to zoom to read it.
I've cleaned and reflowed the electronics and started repairing the body damage. I've plugged it in and can hear when I tap the pickups.. good sign. So it might turn out 1/2 way nice. At least I hope it does.

oh wow, it's a teisco made in japan thing (or is it pronounced tesico?)
MIJ and sold lots of unbranded ones to shops and they stuck their own logo on it..
this is the exact style one I've been after - how is the neck? good quality or a bit poo??? straight? how will you intonate it if it's not got a floating bridge or any adjustment on it??
very good, am impressed and jealous!

oh on the rear of the scratch plate with the date, there's another stamp near the top, what does that say?

Nope I'm sure it's made in usa (see headstock front pic). What I've read is it was made for sears' brand (silvertone) by harmony USA. Before harmony was bought out by an overseas company. All that happened way after 66. The stamp at the top says S***.inc (maybe sears.inc) the stars being unreadable. The bridge is a floating bridge (wooden rests directly on body strings hold it in place) so intonation shouldnt be bad at all. The neck is wicked even the frets are good. I mean this thing has been sitting in a closet or someplace for quite a while. My only concern is how high that bridge pickup is, if you look at the back of the PG you'll see the pups arent adjustable they're riveted on. It's making me think it's going to have to have high action to clear that pup. But I wont know untill I string it up..but hopefully I can get the action lOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

yeah same as my les paul one, the rear pickup was just too high, and meant I couldn't drop the action very low - lowered it again last night - went just past acceptable point and started buzzing on first fret, highered it a little and think I've found a good medium..
here's some links of guitars on ebay (UK one) and it's all the tesico guitars (and the unbranded MIJ guitars)....they're very similar... (but then the teisco ones are copies so maybe your one is a proper usa one which would be rather grand)..
anyway, have a look, you'll see what i mean by similarities

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1960s-Teisco-E...#ht_522wt_1137
strangely familiar.....going to look up your make one now!
brb! ;-)

erm, last bit of blurb........looks like pickups are good too!
Silvertone
U.S.A. built in about 1965 by Harmony featuring De Armond Pick-ups and marketed by Harmony as an H17. However in this Silvertone guise, it carries the in-house brandname of Sears department stores. Until 1940 Sears owned Harmony.

Kramone. I bet my garbage man has built 4 or 5 guitars off the stuff I pitch out. But after seeing that ebay auction Mark posted, that guitar is getting sold..... Vott needs a CV. :-)

wooo, I just bought one!!!
well, it's badged Kay, but seems like that the proper kay company seised in 1969, after that the name was used in conjunction with the silvertone for sears guitars...
either way, I paid £27 for it!!!! wooo, here's the ebay link - can't wait!!

Sweet! I like the metal bridge especially. Is that a truss rod adjusting screw at neck/body area?

It looks like it's the truss rod adjust at the bottom of the neck - kinda strange eh!
The only thing which concerns me is there's no adjustment to intonate the guitar which is a little wierd....so i think I might have to change it for one of the ones from a les paul style bridge (whatever they're called)....either that, or others have unscrewed the bridge and had it as a floating bridge and intonated it like that.
reckon the tuners will be junk, but you never know - I'll get some proper piccies when it turns up, can't wait - doh....another project!!! hehehe
