Default 335 clone.

I have an Aria T-50, which is a 335 clone. It was restrung at its 6 month service (part of the dealer package) and appears to have 9's fitted. I find it is very easy to slide the 1st string off the edge of the fret board and was wondering if the 335 has 10's as standard and if that would help. The set up of the nut/fret board/bridge is correct so it may just be my clumsy playing style. It makes playing "Wanted Dead Or Alive" a bit of a chore as you have to lift and replace fingers, instead of sliding them, as I do with the Strats and Les Paul. Anyone any thoughts on the matter?

heavier strings will help some. but maybe not enough.

on my Gretsch, I have 11's and 10's on my Les Paul and Squier Strat. I would try 10's, because lighter strings(9's) don't always stay in place and behave the way you're used to. just a thought.

If strings are too close to fretboard side, the nut is not right.

I regularly have 009-046 (ie not regular 009-042) on my strat, but replaced the 9 with a ten. So you can do that as well, have heavy bottoms if you like the bass strings to be heavier, or replace the thinnest string with tad heavier one. Just ordered 0095-044s for my tele and 10 flatwounds for the strat. Always experimenting...

Of course acoustic style strumming does not work the best on electric guitars.

String positioning is spot on but the strings are 9's and they seem a bit light. Also the radius of the fret board makes it easy to drag the 1st string off the side. I will put 10's on the next time I restring it. It is a guitar that requires a light hand.
