After a 30 year layoff from being a gigging musician, I recently auditioned for The Original El Durays, a local Surfer/Doo Wop group. To my surprise I got the gig and I'm having a blast. The group itself was originally formed in the sixties and was a pretty popular band until tragedy struck. A member was drafted and went to Nam (you know the rest). The band laid dormant for a long time and then was reformed a couple of years ago with several of the "Original" members. We do mostly car shows, 50/60 high school reunions, and benefit work. If anyone else is thinking about getting back in the business "go for it" it's a lot of hard work to get your chops back, but worth it.
