Do you like JJ Cale?
I am a big fan, so I put up a blog of JJ songs. Tabbing them when I have time.
So please check my blog for chords (and some licks) to about 40 JJ songs:
http://pickingjjcale.blogspot.com/ Requests also welcome.

Yes I do.
I dig that laid-back Tulsa sound
To my ear, JJ Cale has had a massive influence on Clapton, and Knopfler, and many others.
Good blog! - and i'll be trying some of your tabs later for sure - thanks!

JJ is the real deal
That is a Harmony acoustic he converted into an electric. You can cop his licks, but it's tough to capture the tone.

You got that right! To me the feel is tough enough, and the tone is *really* elusive. In the beginning I recorded a simple track on my new guitar to see if I could get any JJ feel, forget tone: http://www.box.net/shared/88yshoa66u Not really, but, I'll keep on trying... I know I am not a good guitar player, nor a great trancriber, but I *am* enjoying the journey!

I haven't added anything to the blog of late, but I can check Mama don't chords, when I am back home with my guitar in hand. I think it's in the key of Bbm or Bm.

I put the chords as I hear them on my blog now. No tabs, per se.
The key is Bm. He plays it as an E-barre at the seventh fret, and the F# as an A-barre at ninth fret, and E as an A-barre at seventh fret. If you don't do barres, you could use capo on second fret and play Bm => Am, F# => E, E => D.
He plays mostly just with fingers (usually index finger for strums).
For one of the solo licks, you can find an amateur youtube video.

I have one of his albums and it is really funny how each song is about 2.5 minutes long.
Just enough to make a 45 rpm record. LOL. I think his best song is "They call me the Breeze" You can check him out on the Clapton Crossroads DVD.

I love it that the songs are short! No padding. Also love the fade outs at the end, makes me feel like it's just a snippet from a longer jam. But to each his own. Of course he has some 5+ minute songs too.
There are a couple of DVD of his own. JJ Cale live in paradise studios 1979 is my fave. That DVD has some longer audio versions of a few album tracks as an extra.
