Default Ok, I'll start!

I get to post first in a section of a forum? Awesome! Ok, here goes:

Where's your favorite source for tab, free or otherwise? I kind of dig guitarinstructor.com since I'm no good at tabbing stuff out myself.

But I guess my main source is my almost twenty year collection of various guitar magazines.

So, what's yours?

Jim

I think that I'm in the same boat that you're in. except mine may be older. I have a lot of the old songbooks with the chords above the lyrics. when Linda goes to a "garage sale", she'll bring one back if she thinks I'd like it.

if i'm looking for a specific song i'll google for tab or chords directly.. and if its more contemporary try a site like www.ultimate-guitar.com

i did pick up a bunch of cheap older editions of some of the more popular chord/tab books. might even buy a book ocassionally for a particular song.

"You shall not use TAB:s that You find on the internet, they are bad and often incorrect"...is what I keep hearing. But I'm just a noob, so what do I know. Anyway, here's one I found that I think seems useful: http://www.songsterr.com/

Heard the same here before.

I think the thing is, to learn the technique instead of blindly learning from tab. At the stage i'm at I try to choose songs to help me learn something rather than for something i'd like to play. This is probably why the list below contains a lot of folk and traditional sources.

Now I have a bit more time here are a few more tab sites from my bookmarks list.

I hate internet tab, I find it to be pretty awful.

I really love most any books that Cherry Lane put out, I always found them to be very well made and extremely accurate. (the Metallica books for the first 4 cd's are a great example. Just great books all the way around from the accuracy of the transcription to the actual font and print that they use.)

I think I'll go get the "Esteban" lessons. (NOT !!)

I can read music okay.
I just have to learn the chords and tabs now.

Not to sound , you know, but I use the things on the side of my head called ears. I've tried to read tab but it really confuses me. I do know how to read music though.

I use internet "chord sheets" but never the tab - I don't want to play exactly like XYZ guitarist, I want to play like me. But internet tabs can be OK, you just get a lot of lousy ones too.

+1 on Justin's site. He puts out a ton of free stuff, and as I'm just a beginner he's been a huge, and I mean huge help to me. It's nice to know there are still some people out there who like to help others...much like all of the great folks right here on this forum. Happy Holidays to all!!

Try steviesnacks.com if you like texas blues. He makes free lessons as well as more in depth lessons that you can purchase. He also has quite a few videos on youtube, search for gr8bluesgtr.
