Default What does 'warm' delay mean?

I'm interested in a delay pedal to give a bit of depth to my sound.

I keep reading about pedals that give a 'warm' delay. What does this mean, and what's the difference between warm and (presumably) cool delay? Any examples of the different sounds?

Thanks!

warmer delay is more like slapback to early pink floyd stuff...the older echoplex units are tape driven, and they have a huge warm sound, but they tend to be fussy...

cooler delays are like the boss dd series, they give much more precise repeats than the older units will.

having said all that,an old DOD FX-90 will be just as warm as a boss delay from the same time period, and will set you back about 35-60 bucks,as opposed to 275.00 for the boss, and 500+ for a echoplex/binson echorec from the late sixties/early seventies.

good luck!
