Tubescreamer or Other Overdrives?
Now that I'm without my TS9DX, I'd like to look at what else is out there that has comparable sound at a lower price. By lower price, I mean that I can get a used TS9 for $70-$80, but if I'm looking at used boxes, I'd like opinions on what others you guys have tried.

I have a few old Ibanez screamers and other brands but if you want budget I have and actually use a Behringer TO800. Vintage tube overdrive. It's plastic but I love the sound. It is close to a vintage Ibanez to my ears. Good for rock, classic rock and blues, not so much for metal. I think mine was $28 free shipping. Its worth the $$$$

I just got a Boss Blues Driver for overdrive. Way better than the Marshall Drivemaster and Soundtank TS that I have. I'm very happy with it, hear they are even better w. Keely mods, though I'm happy w/ mine as is.

Sounds promising. I'll spend some time listening to youtube clips of those boxes.

For a couple of bargain priced pedals that actually work surprisingly well I'd recommend the Danelectro FAB D-1 Distortion or the FAB D-2 Overdrive.
They are plastic, but seem sturdy enough despite that, and they can often be had on eBay or elsewhere under $20 each.

Lately I have been impressed with the Delta Labs TO1 and the Danelectro Transparent OD. Moreso the Delta.

You might consider the Ibanez TS7. Can be gotten relatively cheap and sounds pretty good to me.

Honest I have a Boss SD-1 with a 25 dollar mod, so puts that at around 50-75, that's a good one. But I've yet to meed an overdrive that fills out a sound like the Duncan TwinTube Overdrive, so it's worth the extra money to get something nice like that. Maybe look for a used one local and make an offer.

Boss BD-2 is a great pedal and can be had for 50$ used. Not a tubescreamer but a great pedal. The SD-1 by Boss is 40$ new and with a 20$ Monte Allums mod is the same as a 180$ 808. You can also mod the BD-2 through Monte Allums mods. Great mods, great prices, great sounding pedals. I own both and have modded both.
