Any Vox Owners?
I know there's some Vox owners in the house! I'm a Pathfinder 15R owner myself. The 8" speaker that came with it was cool, but I wanted to try a 10", so I did. Big improvement.

The VT and AD series have some issues taking pedals, if it does'nt have an effects loop, which starts on the 50watt models. I also dont like that the signal is constantly under a modeling amp setting, I cannot get a completley clean-type tone out of it. Maybe try the true tube models, you'd be much happier with you investment ,,, IMO

I had a Vox AD30VT which I loved, and I'm waiting on an order of an AC4TV 10" combo.
I can't wait to get it..

I also have the Pathfinder 15R and love it. I bought it from a member of gretsch-talk forum. Fanastic amp for my Gretsch Rambler. There was a thread going on the gretsch forum where someone had done just what you wanted to do. Put a larger speaker in. Seems as if there was a question as to how the larger size actually fit, but they were able to do it. It may have been a 9" vs a 10".
Nonetheless, I love the Pathfinder and plan on using it as a practice amp for sometime.

A picture of it is on my photos.

I was lugging an amp and guitar back and forth to my daughters place in Maine. So I bought a 15R. It is about the most tubey sounding SS amp I have ever heard. Lots of power and takes pedals well. I leave it there with a couple of pedals and cords. Now all I do is take a guitar and tuner.

I've got a 15 watt VOX
VBM1 Brian May Special.
I'd say it's a one trick pony sound-wise.. &,
while it's a pretty cool, very Brian May sound,
it's the amp's other functions that i like best.
It can be used as a treble booster into your amp ala Mr. May
or also used as a head to power external cabs, even a 4x12.
I've used it w/ much success as a treble booster for a
very heavy & driven tone, but you've gotta know what
you're doing w/ your volume knobs to keep it in control.
The one place i think they went wrong w/ the design is
not being able to bypass the amp w/ a footswitch while
using it as a treble booster, which would've made it perfect.
It pairs well w/ my more natural & Ol' Skool sounding
5 watt Yamaha G-5 for a killer little recording rig too.

I have an AC4TV 10" combo. Great little amp. It's for sale her on a buy/sell thread It's probably the best sounding small amp I've ever played through. I just aquired a larger amp to give me more thump and bottom end so I really don't use it anymore. I used it with my Gretsch 5122 on most of the following recordings:

Here's mine. It's got the original speaker, but it's great for my needs, I can hardly ever crank it anyway, due to the neighbour situation. I'm getting the Pathfinder 10 as well, love these little amps.
BTW, any of You guys seen/heard that new Pathfinder 10 Bass amp yet?
As a noob I have to admit that I don't know too much about amps, and I'm a little bit puzzled why they've chosen 2X5" speakers for it. Wouldn't it have been better with one bigger speaker instead?
cheers

I quite fancy trying the Pathfinder Bass Amp, and they're only £65 in the UK.

Yes, I'm curious too. I wonder how a CV 50's strat would sound through it?

I have the ADVT30 and have the same complaint about getting a really clean setting. However its my main amp and I still like it alot.

I have a AD50 and I have trouble getting a good useful sound. I have to change the volume knob alot as I go thru the amp models. I've been wanting to get a Pathfinder. I've heard great things from those. They seem interesting.

I got the DA20 for my bedroom amp just last year. Say what you will about modeling amps, but it's fun. It's also nice to not have to get out and hook up all my pedals if I just want to practice.

I've got a VR30R and man, its pretty sweet sounding. Its voiced fairly close to an AC30, but obviously is not as tubey sounding. very warm, very mellow - great for where i use it (mostly at church) and sometimes for experimental stuff. I've also played my two synths (roland sh-201 and roland RS70) through the VR30R and they sounded better through it than they did through my churches pa system.
a really great amp (the only thing lacking is the quality of the reverb. it helps, but sounds a little bit artificial.

i also at one point had the AD50VTX (? i think) it was supposed to be the high-gain version, and boy was it ever, but it absolutely sucked. words cannot describe how much it sucked. the models sucked. the effects were different. ugh. it was total garbage.

Sounds like what I'd like ... I'll have to look it up ; ) ... wow 50 lbs eh ? Might have to rethink that ... lol
... VT's models guys ... beware spend time in the store with one, realizing they are always through an modeing amp even on bypass of the effects section ... crystal cleans are not to be found on these amps, which limits their potential. If you just rock ... they are great.

Late 90s Pathfinder 15
I have a ten-year old or so Pathfinder 15. Broke the PC board, and a tech "hard-wired" it back together. It's the only "point-to-point" solid state amp around <g>, and it sounds great.
